A Message from the Vicar

13 March 2020

At Church of the Holy Spirit, we believe that God is always with us, and the Spirit of Christ is alive in each of us and among us, even when, due to circumstances in our world, we are called to care for each other by staying physically apart for a time.

When anxiety is high and we don't have all the answers we want, as people of faith, we are called to the practices that have sustained us through the centuries and brought courage, strength, and deep peace to many facing difficult times.

So, while we are asking all to be discerning in going out, and staying in - paying attention to guidelines and restrictions from  reputable sources - I want to invite you to keep up these daily disciplines that demonstrate our interconnectedness:

- Prayer - individual & communal - which keeps us connected to God and each other (see the links and resources on this page)

- Care for others, particularly those who live alone or who may lack food or other basic necessities (make a donation to our food pantry or write a check to Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit and send to 3910 Yanceyville St, Greensboro NC 27405)

MAUNDY THURS APRIL 9

Observe at home: At Gethsemane, Jesus asked his friends to watch and pray with him in his hour of suffering. Is there someone you know who is in agony - in body, mind, or spirit - whom you could reach out to with a phone call? Not to fix their suffering, but to be with them in their time of trouble.
